A little story time. When I was 6, during my first swim class, I jumped into the deep end without thinking and had a near drowning. I remember waking up in the hospital, but vividly remembering how painful it was not being able to breath. I was lucky to have survived but what confidence to do anything new was taken away from me and I couldn’t do anything without fear eating me up. It wasn’t until I watched Naruto, that I saw the character Rock Lee and was instantly fell in love with his character. Despite not being born talented, he put his fears aside and trained harder than anyone to be noticed and respected. I knew that this was a fictional character but I wanted to be like him and break free of my crippling fear by training to be stronger. I told myself, that if I could conquer the fear of water and learn to swim, I would be able to do anything. 6 months after the experience, I had learned to swim, trained really hard to strengthen my body, and eventually competed in my first swim meet and… 🧵👇 5 replies
