If you're voting in /new-york today and have no idea who to vote for then check out this guide from @kmat who's a good friend that I convinced to join Farcaster Even if you're not in NYC, I recommend reading it because her writing is very entertaining and I've been annoying her to write more! Follow her too!

If you don't read the whole thing then just read to this rant by @kmat below It's a banger "We can’t have nice things if we keep electing officials whose whole campaign is financed by the same people actively lobbying against those nice things. What is good for you and your neighbors, like having health insurance or paid sick leave, is not good for doordash or private real estate developers (which is why they’ve donated millions to Cuomo’s campaign). I’m tired of voting for these geriatric establishment democrats. We pay for them to make our lives easier but once they’re in office it’s all lip service. Cuomo can’t deliver on his policies because he already sold your vote to the highest bidder financing his campaign. Look, corporate greed may be inherently New York, but so is having engaged citizens who push back. Less Venture capitalist coffeeshops, more Cafe Colmados! No more private management companies owned by Jared Kushner, more landlords like Julie who replaced my entire oven after I broke a knob. More Brownsville Safety Alliance! Less cops in subways playing candy crush. Do you know what unchecked corporate greed gets us? The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire. The plot of Erin Brocavich starring Julia Roberts. The 2008 financial crisis. The opioid epidemic. Our current inflation. Live action remakes of animated movies (the people yearn for original screenplays). Microplastics in your brain. The BP oil spill. Netflix commercials. Like at least Tammany Hall bought their voters by providing them with jobs, citizenship, etc. Now we just have Tammany levels of corruption but instead of perks we get a “best I can do is not be as bad as Trump.” You’re telling me an 1830s immigrant fresh off the boat held out for more than you? If you’re going to have corruption you have to ALSO uplift average citizens. Are you actually going to let this clown buy your vote for the low low price of name recognition and direct mail marketing? Have some self respect. They used to have to buy us hospitals! It’s not too hard. We have the money. We just need people in office who work for us instead of 3 CEOs stuffed in a trench coat. Mamdani’s campaign has the greenlight from economists around the world, his policies work. We’re going to end up hating the mayor no matter what, as is our right (look at how we bullied De Blasio and he gave everyone free pre-k**). " Baby you don’t have to accept breadcrumbs, this is the greatest city in the world, you can and should demand more from your elected officials– and that starts with you deciding who’s worthy of working for you. Channel your inner immigrant great grandmother and demand more. Because to be unbothered at this point is incredibly cringe. I need you to lock the fuck in and start caring about your neighbors. Because the Gilded Age is back bayBY and unless you can afford to put your name on a building, it’s time to clock in at the supporting the homies factory.
