I find this to be an interesting topic. Does tipping/giving make you feel happier? Purpose > Transaction (Lewis Hyde The Gift, highly recommend) Auto-tipping can commoditize the part where you choose to be generous. That little moment of intent. that’s where the oxytocin hits. No conscious choice then no chemical release. Need to retrain my brain it’s not just a like we are giving… It speed up trust loops (expecting nothing in return 🙌), but do we risk losing the warm fuzzies? “But neither money nor machines can create. They shuttle tokens of energy, but they do not transform. A civilization based on them puts people out of touch with their creative powers.” - Lewis Hyde

As the recipient of a tip, I always feel guilty like I don't deserve it. This in turns makes it hard for me to publicly say thank you because it draws attention to what already makes me feel bad. I'm not sure what happened in my childhood to break me this way...

Did organized religion play a part in that childhood? joking not joking (not expecting an answer) Some of us have for so long been equating labor with rewards *on a linear scale* that is not longer relevant in a digitized networked world. It’s mind bending eg when you get hundreds of thousands of dollars for making a few degenerate casts into a fledgling channel. Talk about don’t deserve it 😵‍💫
