I appreciate my dad because he relentlessly taught me not to care about money or material things

in my 20s I resented it a bit, because life hit and I was like "wait wtf man I need money to live why didn't you tell me to maximize how much money I can earn, I can't get by on hippie vibes"

but I think there's wisdom in that because of how brutally life teaches you money matters

while it's not as obvious that the small things in life are priceless 

he focused on teaching me the harder lesson
