distribution is valuable and both soundcloud/bandcamp have that with a large number of artists 

sound is just a piece of tech without any valuable distribution or awareness with artists

bandcamp has 
- 100s of thousands of DAUs
- 100s of thousands of artists 
- ~$200mm of volume on a two sided market 

if sound had those it would be crypto's poster child
no crypto app has those and that's crypto's principal problem

idk what sound has that can't be built by 5 people in 6 months (don't mean to belittle or be demeaning and hope it doesn't come off like that)

Not sure I’d bet on any of the above… raising a half a billion for a narrow profit margin doesn’t seem like an edge for SoundCloud 

And if epic could not turn bandcamp into something valuable and sustainable, I have low hopes for songtradr doing any better

there are tons of user-generated-content streaming platforms and tons of digital content stores that do well
these two aren't thriving due to management/execution issues not due to fundamental issues in their category

what they do have are content/catalogue and loyal user base which no company younger than 10 years (other than tiktok) has been able to assemble

stuff you mention as reasons against are all reason/argument for why businesses with underutilized assets and bad execution muscles get bought out and revampled
