Serious question. Are both the following and the home feed algo based. Or is following just recency based of all the ppl you follow? Either way I tend to always find engaging and great content by going back and forth. But I get the sentiment from @stephancill

@basement5k.eth Following feed is a non-algorithmic feed. It is based on casts (and recasts) from people you follow sorted reverse chrono . Home feed is algo. Overwhelming majority of Farcasters prefer home feed compared to pure following.

well yeah the following feed doesn't actually show you any posts from the people you follow beyond their top level casts so it's boring the main strength of any following feed is that you see EVERYTHING from the people you follow, including their replies to other people's posts but I do remember you saying a few weeks back changes were coming, any update?

We made some changes to make sure all top level casts are in there and instant. We are looking into including more but although you believe "everything" should be the "following" feed we even received feedback that recasts should not be included. So we are trying to find a balance here before making more changes.

oh yeah that's another thing I pointed out to @ted, real rug pull for small users on here when they get a "recast" from a big account on here but then they realize a) the followers of that big account won't see that recast in the following feed b) that recast won't show up in the home feed of the big account I don't know why y'all want to make your following feed different from every other following feed that's been used? X/Threads define the behavior users expect from a following feed, and it's confusing when people show up here and don't get the same experience what makes the feedback of these few people that don't like recasts in a following feed better than the feedback of people who do want it?

We show recasts on the following feed today. I just shared this as an example of how the network is not on the same page on what this feed should be. Threads does not show replies or reposts on following feeds. X does.

can you show me a screenshot of what a recast in the following feed looks like? scrolling just now I see nothing labeled as "recasted by" also not sure you're correct re: Threads features

Attached are two screenshots from Threads and Farcaster. I don't appreciate your "gotcha" attempts and find them bad faith. Will not engage further.

lol ok man well here's a full minute of me scrolling with no "recasted by" message showing up in my feed I'm genuinely confused because I would love to see recasts in my feed and I follow over 5000 people, so highly unlikely I shouldn't have any possibly a bug! but go ahead and ignore if you want

My response above was unnecessarily confrontational. I apologize for that. I'll forward this video to the team so we can confirm that it is easier expected behavior or fix it soon. Thanks.

appreciate the response 🀝 I know some members on the team think I just talk crap about the feed to talk crap but I genuinely like the product and want to see this place win if I see obvious optimization opportunities I will point them out because you guys implementing them helps me win too y'all have plenty of people who will tell you you do nothing wrong, I'm not one of those people and will happily speak up when I think the wrong move is being made it's not about acting in bad faith
