I have a hard time participating on social media regularly or with enthusiasm. It takes a lot of time! I have obligations offline! And if I have to choose between answering messages or vibing in nature, I'm usually gonna vibe.

The wildflowers in June on this trip are always insane. I'm tertible at remembering their names. My friend / our Botanist guide Matt has a photographic memory for Latin names of plants, it's truly insane. Yetis! And practice. I've researched traditional food storage techniques. Americans are nutty about refrigeration, and I base my methods on food science. And i don't incorporate foraged foods in the backcountry because of allergy risk, but will in the frontcountry!

I see bears maybe twice a season on trail, but we've had issues with "problem bears" at the pack station - bears that get habituated to humans and dependent on us for food. It's sad, they're a menace and their quality of life isn't great. Often they are killed because they become dangerous. Best way to prevent that is not to feed them, keep food secure, and scare them away when you see them!

Bananas Foster. This is a very fancy feeling dessert with lots of drama but it requires no oven and only one pan and comes together in less than 10 minutes. I serve with Sara Lee frozen pound cake and a can of off-brand whipped cream. It's very good over ice cream, and I often serve over pancakes.
