Star Trek was competence porn, we watched it because we wanted optimism and faith in society to do the right thing. The West Wing is making a comeback for similar reasons. What's this generation's competence porn?

Interesting. I think it’s in shows like Jack Reacher, John Wick, or other action violence where the main understands and uses multiple weapon weapons to kill other people with maximum competence and skill. I suppose there’s some intelligence involved, but I preferred the non-violence competence porn, personally.
