One of my rich friends will every so often buy housewares from Soho House. I wonder how big of a line of business that is for them; all the stuff they sell to make your home more like their clubs

their stuff does look nice can't deny that. but yeah the margins must be pretty high. i imagine they are selling what they have overstocked from their hotel staging. their skincare brand is probably making more than furniture

Their annual report suggests a lot of people enjoy Soho House homewares - "Other revenues of $304.2 million, up 6.2% year-over-year supported by strong growth in Soho Home and Scorpios". This does include their skincare stuff Cowshed. stock price though is down -48% or so since debut

Wonder if there’s some rich person marketing push i am simply not aware of that’s making it come up 😂

A lot of wealthy people I know have no taste and relish the opportunity to outsource that thinking if they can. I feel like the market for soho house wares is this group of ppl

It’s weird cause I agree on the face but this couple that made me think of it today is for sure not that How many people buy this stuff? Could it theoretically offset real estate costs, allow the company to maintain membership exclusivity and still grow? 🤔

That’s fair, it’s not a monolith - I don’t think a home wares business could sustain them tbh but I have no info other than my gut and what I know about products :)

When I have a beat I am gonna go dig around in their earnings reports I bet there’s at least something to go off in there

It's a brilliant brand extension strategy. Selling the 'lifestyle' associated with the club experience allows members to take a piece of that exclusivity home. It likely has great margins and deepens brand loyalty significantly.
