This does not bode well for us making it to Mars, I will say.

I will only respond if you refrain from using "guys" as implies there is more than just me involved in any decision or topic. I am an island.

Militant seems strong? But yes, more on that side than not. And IMO that is how crypto originated.

Meanwhile “join the community,” “meet us at the schelling point,” “adopt the new standard,” and “update your node.” Cryptocurrencies and protocols depend upon coordination to be relevant.

As a leftist in crypo, I highly disagree with this take. The collective is what keeps the blockchain running, and like the idealist leftism decisions are made by the collective, not by autocratic leaders (depending on the chain of course, but this is true for Eth and BTC for sure

Disagree with the premise that crypto is radically anti-leftist. Fundamentally it’s an anti-authoritarian tool. It’s about pushing the Overton window down the political compass, not to the right. Bitcoin challenges centralised control of the money supply. Defi challenges centralised control of banking infrastructure. DeSoc challenges centralised control of media. None of these are inherently leftist. Each of these are about removing the ability of a small number of people to make decisions on behalf of the many, often in their own self interest. Which is why many in the left leaning crypto tribe are aghast to see right leaning members supporting Trump, since his version of the Republican Party is more populist authoritarian than it is right wing. Authoritarian politicians should be the opposite of what anyone involved in crypto for its core values should want.

being individualistic does not necessarily imply being anti-leftist. Just as being right-wing doesn't necessarily mean being against the community. If only because we know that we can't go anywhere alone, much less to Mars.
