Mixed overall but net good. 

They’re not “joining the army” in a real sense imo. 

They are basically coming in as part time uniformed advisors with special privileges. This is important for national defense but feels like more political messaging and alignment than true selfless service. 

I’m also just generally disappointed that democrats didn’t do this 15 years ago but that’s a recurring own goal on their part. 

So I’m aligned in spirit but the execution makes me nervous. 

Especially when this is the deliberate framing (see pic)

I really resent the comparison to ww2 and lack of ability to be honest about what they are actually doing

it’s the one two punch of 

“I always gotta be the good guy of my own narrative even though somehow what personally benefits me always seem to be what is morally good” 

and 

“we’re publishing this for literal morons to consume unironically”

for me
