Why are we investing in video?

I've been spending a lot of time recently talking to users. Our goal is to figure out how we can get people to invite their friends to Farcaster. If we can solve this, Farcaster will grow.

When asking why people aren't inviting their friends to Farcaster, the overwhelming reason is they spend most of their time on TikTok / Instagram / YouTube (no X / Twitter).

So, video.

I can’t find the link but YouTube shorts just crossed some huge number. 

I’m sure you’ve thought all of this out already but making it easy for people to create short videos directly from the feed would be a next level idea. 

Some people will use CapCut but a lot of them won’t. Editing would probably be too hard to do in app but maybe just a way to record a short and post it, almost like vine was. 

And then have a dedicated shorts feed as well

Agree would be nice, but the amount of work to get to have a baseline editor UX would be massive. Let's get the video flywheel working first.
