If my destination is really in that direction, I think I’d follow the recommended route.

I’ve ended up taking the longer safer route. imo when you know the area google’s public transport or walking recommendations optimise for the wrong things. I’ve crossed the exit/entry of motorways before. Some urban planners forget that people exists
