Long term games are interesting idea but weirdly I’m not strategic enough to go for one. I’ve, unconsciously (?) picked a more random path with a PhD in social science (no patent, no industry to exit to). I like how Paul describes his path as stubborn middle term game that’s rests on doing something he enjoys. I can relate to that. But also: I take a normal job to make more money, save it all, and then leave on a whim to go traveling https://www.meco.app/share/7002a365-3241-45d8-9683-c204ac60eb31 (via Meco)

hmmm appreciating this cast and thinking about how the absence of a known strategy doesn’t mean we don’t have one, in that revealed preference way also maybe the stubborn middle is all we really have now since no playbook can survive current era of chaos 👉 “Maybe we call this a medium-term mediocre game (MTMG): playing a game simply to keep playing, hopefully for a few more years each time.” @pmillerd is on here sometimes, might chime in (hi Paul 👋 ) for interest, am old enough that Your Money or Your Life was where I got the idea virus that a job-job wasn’t the only way. Joe is gone but Vicki Robin is still out there helping https://yourmoneyoryourlife.com/ https://yourmoneyoryourlife.com/book-summary/
