Why are you paying for Proton? 🔸Proton Calendar — No point having your calendar on the cloud. 🔸Proton Wallet — No one will ever use it because it's a huge privacy risk and lacks even the most basic of features. 🔸Proton Docs — It's a niche product, very few people will use it. 🔸Proton Mail — Email it's a flawed protocol with no privacy. The Free plan is enough. 🔸Proton Pass — There's no reason for your passwords and 2FA codes to be on the cloud (huge risk). 🔸Proton Drive — It doesn't work reliably for backups. Both their webapp and Android app have issues, if you try to upload thousands of files/folders at once, it glitches and stops uploading, some files are lost randomly. They still haven't given Linux support in all these years. 🔸Proton VPN — The Android app is solid, but they don't care about their Linux app. A lot of websites are blocking VPNs nowadays, and Proton 'Stealth' protocol doesn't work. The Free plan is enough.

Perfect is the enemy of good. It works well enough for me. I prefer a cloud based calendar to share with my partner and see other org's events. I like docs/drive 🤷♀️. VPN is fine enough, but yea on Linux it sucks. For passwords, I use it as a backup, bitwarden if my main manager. Wallet, ehh, never used it.

view from normie not hardcore ppl proton calendar: ppl will instead sync with google or apple cal, and let them snoop in. they won't use davx5 etc Proton wallet is shit, nobodx cares proton docs: same, ppl will put their documents on clouds protonpass: ppl will reuse passwords and emails protonmail: convenient way to use protonpass aliases proton drive: ppl else will less secure options with gdrive and apple cloud protonvpn: if you try out more servers, you will actually find one which isnt detected as vpn (and can use vpn protected dapps) in total, the right way for privacy curious ppl who don't want to self host or take eggs out of the basket as first step
