Would be nice to have this as absolute numbers. Maybe theoretical has stayed the same, but more and more new empirical papers come cranking out?

Tracks the shift in the study of economics in general. It has shifted from theoretical foundation to IMO excessive empiricism over the last century. They're trying to be a 'precise' / natural science when humans and their behavior are simply not a fit for that type of study

And should be rightly so. We've obviously been orbiting on the armchair theories of previous economists without some sort of recency and fact to support most.
