First of all, my impression reading Simulacra and Simulation — my first reaction: Jean Baudrillard is such an edgelord, jaysus christ Then all of a sudden - I rememberd reading long ago that the creators of the matrix were inspired by it and I was wondering what it was all about. Then I read the chapter on “Clone Story”. This idea of the information-fication of reproduction. The absence of sex as an act itself and how it becomes useless or as a ritualistic act is devoid of meaning, of tying it to Walter Benjamin and art in the age of reproduction.

I agree with him on how the act becomes useless at the end of the day.

Baudrillard really said sex, like art, lost its aura just empty ritual now. Clone Story hits hard when you see it through Benjamin’s lens. No wonder The Matrix was all over this
