I find this to be an interesting topic. Does tipping/giving make you feel happier? Purpose > Transaction (Lewis Hyde The Gift, highly recommend) Auto-tipping can commoditize the part where you choose to be generous. That little moment of intent. that’s where the oxytocin hits. No conscious choice then no chemical release. Need to retrain my brain it’s not just a like we are giving… It speed up trust loops (expecting nothing in return 🙌), but do we risk losing the warm fuzzies? “But neither money nor machines can create. They shuttle tokens of energy, but they do not transform. A civilization based on them puts people out of touch with their creative powers.” - Lewis Hyde

@juli
It does change my behavior. I love to tip on purpose, I hate to auto-tip (especially excessive amounts), I am fine doing micro-tipping to people I enjoy to talk to or read from BUT at some point you realize you’re giving money away and wondering what’s the purpose, what’s the benefit. So, I can’t help to start to think more transactional AND reduce tipping on purpose WHEN I autotip small amounts AND potentially engage less

Yeah I might be a few weeks behind you on this insight. That said I’m all for representing & spreading the ‘currency’ of the network to those that give the most joy to the people that follow them. Thanks for sharing. [hits tip] [realizes that sounds dirty] https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxRnTdw8Lap3te5m4j0dy2CNbClOp6v2RJ
