I think one challenge is devices. Most people’s third space is their online space. When they’re in a coffee shop they’re not socializing much anymore, it’s laptop or phone and noise cancelling headphones. That would be the challenge to design around with a cozier shop in 2025, in addition to what you said ofc.

I think it’s doable though. Japan for instance doesn’t have a togo culture and owners mostly solve it by increasing ticket price with whole bean and food.
