A month or so ago, T-Mobile lost my phone number. It's been a process of being reminded of what things have my old number that need to be updated - including, as I discovered today, our dog's tags, which made it very difficult for the people who found them after they escaped to reach me. 

Looks like a trip to Petco is in order.

Wow. Yet another reason to never use phone number as part of two factor auth I guess

I initiated a transfer of my number to a new carrier and they, instead, cancelled my service and released the number back into the general pool.

Wait, what do you mean they lost your phone number?
