A lot crypto people seem to think being first to build something entitles you to collect rent from everyone else who comes later. People are only willing to pay rent if it gives access to attention / distribution / potential revenue.

i thought that especially in crypto software tends to become commoditized, and the value and defensibility is in the network effects
