who is discovering the hidden elephant red flags of why nobody in AI is joining? crypto being a scam is already known. Nobody cares about the open data though. why?

it's kind of how ai space works openai launched chatgpt and made everyone think they *invented* ai but the foundation of 3.5 (i.e. the research) was released earlier in the year give ppl something simple that they can use or they won't associate it w you, innit?

they didn’t invent the LLM/transformer architecture but they did invent the generative pretrained transformer (gpt) which is why we all actually care about ai right now The paper was 2017 and gpt1 was 2018, but tldr they were doing things never having been done before and had meaningful progress before public speculation ever began Alas— yes but as you’re yourself saying gpt was only made possibly by the underlying researchers, without whom none of this would have existed. That’s different than tossing out the researchers and filling their spot with social media influencers giving half baked opinions on the technology as a whole / exploiting it for speculation gains and no underlying value

i agree with you about how things *should* work in terms of attention and recognition but it's not always the people who did the underlying work that get the credit not in professional contexts and certainly not on social network apps

Right but reframing: Those researchers enabled a massive company to be built, they’re all now very well compensated and known in industry. Where does the current model in crypto lead us? imo -> Compensation for essentially nothing that doesn’t really enable any future progress besides eliminating exactly what it is __ true it’s overlooked on many socials but why do the same exact thing especially when we’re already doing the whole “we won’t be toxic like other socials” as a shilling point Idk it’s frustrating, I’m not learning anything anymore, if I have to go to twitter to learn then what’s the benefit of farcaster.. it can’t win by being slightly better at a few things. This feels like a huge part of why I’m not motivated to build anything lately
