who is discovering the hidden elephant red flags of why nobody in AI is joining? crypto being a scam is already known. Nobody cares about the open data though. why?

i think the problem is literally what you're saying "crypto X ai" companies, not "ai X crypto" companies.

the exact problem is they lean into the crypto scam shit instead of AI which mostly makes them all meaningless to anyone in AI.

Crypto NEEDS ai, ai doesn't NEED crypto (right now).

$vvv botched launch and privacy falsehoods. prime intellect trained a model that nobody uses with very low params. etc.

none actually advance AI any or provide deeper value. crypto celebrates memecoin trading bots that can be reproduced in a few hundred lines of code, or literally just token speculation.

This is one aspect, but also fair-weather-founders make up a lot of AI companies too and that stigma compounds. There are crypto x AI companies, but they’re not marketing heavy.. because why would they be?

gm8 left because i blocked him because we were both bored doing it to each other, and because we were the only two actually promoting anything that even remotely resembles the pursuit of general intelligence.

you think he wants to read 10-20 research papers a week so someone can come and completely overshadow him in his own niche by reposting a template image of "the perfect prompt" guideline? NO. Take that shit to linkedin.

they didn’t invent the LLM/transformer architecture but they did invent the generative pretrained transformer (gpt) which is why we all actually care about ai right now 

The paper was 2017 and gpt1 was 2018, but tldr they were doing things never having been done before and had meaningful progress before public speculation ever began

Alas— yes but as you’re yourself saying gpt was only made possibly by the underlying researchers, without whom none of this would have existed. That’s different than tossing out the researchers and filling their spot with social media influencers giving half baked opinions on the technology as a whole / exploiting it for speculation gains and no underlying value

it's kind of how ai space works

openai launched chatgpt and made everyone think they *invented* ai but the foundation of 3.5 (i.e. the research) was released earlier in the year

give ppl something simple that they can use or they won't associate it w you, innit?
