Nobody’s asking for another social network.
And yet… here we are. Daily. On Farcaster.
The question is: who’s actually here—and what are they here to do?
Because this isn’t just a smaller Twitter. The people showing up here aren’t just posting.
They’re shipping mini-apps.
Launching products.
Sharing their art.
Shaping culture.
They’re not just here to scroll.
They’re here to move something forward.
⸻
Being on Farcaster—and reading Read Write Own by Chris Dixon—something clicked.
We’re not just switching platforms. We’re entering a transformational era.
Web2 is owned by a handful of companies.
They harvest the engagement, pocket the revenue, and can deplatform you without warning.
And I found myself asking:
Where do I want to build?
That’s when Farcaster stopped feeling like an app—
and started feeling like a foundation.
⸻
The DAU on Farcaster aren’t normal.
They’re innovators—the sharp 2.5% who show up before the crowd.
No social proof required. No case studies needed.
Just the edge—and the urge to try what’s next.
They’re not here to consume.
They’re here to ship, to test, to share and to be seen by the right people.
Because for them, early isn’t risky. It’s irresistible.
⸻
And it shows in the work.
Let’s break it down by who’s actually here—and what they’re trying to get done.
⸻
👷♂️ Builders
• Be Seen: “I want other builders to notice, respond, and push me further.”
• Find My People: “I want peers who ship and share in public.”
• Earn: “I want signal fast—users, feedback, maybe even my first paying customer.”
• Make Meaning: “I want to build on something that reflects my values—open, portable, creator-owned.”
⸻
🎨 Artists
• Be Seen: “I want my work to resonate—recasts, reactions, not just likes.”
• Find My People: “I want a scene that gets the weird stuff and rewards taste.”
• Earn: “I want to be tipped, commissioned, or invited into something bigger.”
• Make Meaning: “I want to create in a space that feels aligned with my creative values—not just optimized for reach.”
⸻
📣 Content Creators
• Be Seen: “I want to be known as someone who curates the pulse.”
• Find My People: “I want conversations that sharpen me, not clout-chasing.”
• Earn: “I want my content to open doors—collabs, projects, clients.”
• Make Meaning: “I want to grow a voice in a space that respects ownership and originality.”
⸻
Some of us read Read Write Own and saw ourselves in it.
Not just because it’s a better internet—
but because it’s the one we want to help build.
⸻
This isn’t theory.
It’s the start of a map.
Because when we don’t understand who our daily casters are—or why they’re here—
we risk sending the wrong signals.
We refer the wrong people.
We churn the curious but unaligned.
Farcaster is still in its innovator phase.
That’s not a limitation.
It’s a stage.
The product, the culture, the cadence—
it all works best for people who show up early, shape things, and stay curious.
These are not casual users.
They’re co-creators.
If we can get clearer on the Jobs To Be Done right now,
we can better attract more people like the ones who are already thriving here.
And maybe more importantly:
we can prepare for what comes next—with eyes wide open.
⸻
If you’re building on Farcaster—or building for it—this is worth thinking through.
Because innovators aren’t just gold.
They’re the only audience that matters at this stage.
Going mass too early isn’t bold—it’s misaligned.
So let’s get sharper together:
Who are Farcaster’s daily casters—really?
What are they here to do?
And how might we grow this platform without losing the magic that makes it work now?

This resonates deeply. Farcaster definitely doesn’t feel like just another feed it feels like a frontier.
The people here aren’t optimizing for clout; they’re optimizing for clarity, contribution, and most importantly connection. You can feel the signal in the noise, the craft in the culture.
I showed up out of curiosity. I stayed because I saw builders riffing in public, artists getting recast by founders, and products launched in real time. It’s not just social. it’s socio-creative infrastructure.
This part hit hardest:
“Going mass too early isn’t bold—it’s misaligned.”
Exactly. The challenge isn’t growth for growth’s sake, it’s intentional aligned expansion. Keeping the soul intact while making space for more weirdos, wanderers, and world-builders, whatever their choice of medium is.
Farcaster right now feels like an early city: half-baked, but full of promise.
The blueprint we co-write now determines what it becomes.
Like you said, This isn’t just the start of a map. It’s an invitation to chart new ground together.
But also, the map is not always the territory my friend.
Lots of love and reverence. 1 reply
