Theater time. So glad it’s been quiet today in Kyiv - I actually got to enjoy the whole play (Shakespeare's Richard III) and russians didn’t fuck it up for us. In case of an air raid alert with potential drones or missiles heading toward the city, any performance gets interrupted, and everyone has to shelter in the nearest subway station before returning to continue watching the show once it’s over - which could be hours later. As I’ve mentioned before, russians often launch decoys to keep air raid alerts going nonstop as part of psychological warfare, making sure people can’t truly enjoy anything during the day and that everyone’s lives stay disrupted.

The fact that people still find a way to enjoy art in the middle of all that chaos says everything about human resilience.

Yes!! And to create art! Art is, and has always been, a form of resistance. I’m so proud of Ukrainians for finding a way to create during this time. Also, most theaters in Ukraine have fundraisers going for the Ukrainian army, so they’re contributing to the defense effort as well!

That’s the kind of strength that can’t be broken. Creating while fighting for survival, that’s a level of courage few will ever understand. Btw, how is your day going??
