Tomorrow I run my first marathon. I’d be lying if I said I’m not a bit nervous. It’ll be the longest run I’ve ever taken on and my training has been anything but textbook. An Achilles injury halfway through training knocked me off the road for weeks. Between rehabbing that, a hectic work and life schedule, and managing the usual chaos, building back strength and endurance has been tough. The longest I’ve run in training is a half marathon. But that distance feels solid now and I can breeze through it without thinking. No one cares. Get on the road. It’s not about perfect training, it’s about grit and putting one foot in front of the other until the finish line is behind you.
