I think you should be doing this anyway, but to have this be a headline indicates that they’re cooked for retirement.

My grandfather made me pay him for the car he gave me in high school and set aside half my paycheck for retirement. As a poor high school kid I didn’t like it. I took a lot of babysitting jobs for cash for spending money. When I graduated college, he had taken all that money and bought me funds that followed the US market. He gave me the option to take the money then, or he would match every dollar I put in for the next 5 years. He’s gone now but he taught me everything he knew about investing, planing for my future, etc. I wish I could tell him thank you a million times over.

You’re incredibly lucky. I’m willing to bet with that attitude and skill set you learned at an early age you’re doing better than most trust fund kids.

I made $5 an hour in high school. It wasn’t a ton of money, and it left me with very little spending money after paying for gas ;) But it made me get very serious about the value of money and what was worth working extra hours for and what wasn’t. That lesson was priceless.
