I have lost both my parents, and the last conversations we had run through my head often. My relationship with my dad wasn't terribly close; I think he told me he loved me once or twice ever, although I know he did very much. And I think I may have never told him even once. And it stabs at my soul.

Also. I am not great at this. This cast (I do somewhat regularly) is a reminder to me to tell my kids.
