I think you are spot on. In pursuing A above the internal pull toward B, one aims for a higher self, an improved version. When we choose this iterative model toward the best version of ourselves, we receive much more than if we had chosen B. It might take longer to achieve A, but the delay is worth the effort. Succumb to the lure of B, one also reaps an empty heart and a mind awash in resentment.

I’ve entered the second half of my life. Most would coast until a safe, perhaps diminished lifestyle arrives as retirement. No coasting here. No retirement. I’m… -Starting over -Learning new skills -Doubling down on exponential thinking -Applying the power of leverage in all actions Unless you’ve apprenticed in the physical trades (eg plumber, electrician, HVAC), A.I. WILL DISRUPT YOU! Surgeons, attorneys, programmers, marketers, and on down the white collar roll call… Embrace AI now! No delay. -Learn about it on your precious off hours -Treat today as if you were back in college, hitting the books hard -Give it less effort and you get left behind The future is bright, but only if you upgrade yourself. No one else is going to do it for you.

Do your thoughts elicit emotions? Of do feelings elicit thoughts to answer why we are feeling that way? The worst pattern of all is getting slammed by feelings and short circuiting to unconscious reactions. The reptile response. When my behaviors don't match my wants, desires, and goals and then I begin feeling bad about myself, I try to take a moment to get perspective. I ask these questions: 1. What exactly am I feeling? Can I name the exact emotions? 2. What might be the root cause of how I'm feeling? Is it based in reality? 3. What single, simple action could I take that could remedy the uncomfortable feeling? What methods do you follow to help take back your momentum and wash away those uncomfortable feelings?

2. Resistance to Self-Imposed Constraints Creating a schedule is an act of self-discipline, but adhering to it requires submitting to your own authority. There may be an internal conflict between the planner and the doer within you.

1. Desire for Freedom Highly intelligent and creative individuals often have a strong desire for autonomy and freedom. While you recognize the need for structure to achieve your goals, part of you may perceive strict schedules as limiting your spontaneity and creativity. 🔑

Meme coins are like Alf Pogs (look it up). Might as well gamble on Power Ball. There's nothing technical to analyze. @MartyParty disagrees. He sees them as a fund raise, but without a promise of what they might build or invest in over the future. Sounds like a security. Sounds like an incomplete story structure: no problem to solve, no story.

Frequency, volume, and time under tension. 1. It works for exercise. 2. It works for building a business. 3. It works for crafting a strong marriage.

When they tell you, “I need to think about that”, what are they actually saying? 1. They don’t believe your solution will work at all. 2. They don’t think your solution will work for them. 3. They don’t recognize you as an authority they can trust. It could be 1 or all 3.

No one is paying attention to you? Stop giving information. Start telling stories. 1. A Problem. 2. A desire to solve it 3. A plan that gets blocked. Try, fail, repeat. 4. Regroup, renew commitment. 5. A change of plan that surprises. 6. Acknowledgement of what was won.

The Cyberpunk future we knew would come one day: Corporations taking center stage from governments. Hopefully blockchain can counteract the trend: "For the shareholders, anything. For the consumers, nothing." https://x.com/ConstellationEG/status/1837099294723096654

A life lesson from a world traveler who made a lot of mistakes: Get to your plane, train, or travel connection early. -Less stress. -More fun. -Keep energy reserves for when you need them most.

I've always been intrigued by Frank Herbert's later Dune ideas around the Fish Speakers. I wonder if there are any analogs yet to surface in our global civilization.

"Yūgen" is one of those beautiful Japanese words that’s tough to translate directly, but it captures something profoundly poetic. It describes a deep, mysterious sense of beauty in the world—especially when that beauty hints at something beyond our understanding, like an infinite depth we can’t quite grasp. Imagine looking at the night sky, feeling the vastness of the universe, or watching mist roll over mountains, giving everything a sense of the unknown. Yūgen is that moment where you feel the weight of something greater, a kind of awe that’s not just about what you see, but the feeling it stirs inside you. It’s subtle, emotional, and makes you reflect on life’s mysteries. It’s not just beauty you see—it's the beauty you feel. Like a quiet whisper from the universe saying, “There’s more to this than you can know.” 🌌

"Schadenfreude." It’s that oddly satisfying feeling you get when someone else has a mishap or fails at something, especially if they kinda deserved it. In English, we don’t have a single word for that, but the Germans nailed it. Literally, "Schaden" means damage, and "Freude" means joy. So it's like joy from damage. Ever laughed when someone tripped over their own ego? Yep, that's Schadenfreude. 😈

PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE SUMMARY: Democrats are hailing Harris as the conquering hero. Republicans are condemning ABC for biased moderation. Independents, like me, are weeping at the utter paucity of policy and truth across the board.

“Today, we’re more apt to talk about work than lose ourselves in it. We like to make a big show of it on SM… Getting down to it? Every day? That sounds like torture. Sometimes it is torture! … If you do it right, it’s also torture NOT to do it.” Ryan Holiday from Discipline is Destiny
