Do your thoughts elicit emotions? Of do feelings elicit thoughts to answer why we are feeling that way? The worst pattern of all is getting slammed by feelings and short circuiting to unconscious reactions. The reptile response. When my behaviors don't match my wants, desires, and goals and then I begin feeling bad about myself, I try to take a moment to get perspective. I ask these questions: 1. What exactly am I feeling? Can I name the exact emotions? 2. What might be the root cause of how I'm feeling? Is it based in reality? 3. What single, simple action could I take that could remedy the uncomfortable feeling? What methods do you follow to help take back your momentum and wash away those uncomfortable feelings?
