i tend not to read when i am in periods of creating

or what others might call building

i am not talking about creating tiktok videos

it's not as much intentional as it just happens that way

but if i were to guess why it happens

i think it is my instinct to protect my creativity from outside influence

i think a book can really have an influence on your perspective both while you are reading it and for some time afterwards, which depreciates quickly, and then some smaller influence may last a long time

but when i feel like i am in a good creative place with a strong sense for my intuition and such  do not want to have my perspective influenced

i just want to keep doubling down on what i am doing basically

not looking to be shook out of current state

looking to continue and stay in the flow

sort of like when you're in the middle of something and someone tries to talk to you and you say "sh not now" as if them completing their sentence is going to break your streak of focus

but on a multiday / week / month timeline not just 1 work sesh

i have some contrarian thoughts on reading books more generally but you all are not ready for those
