“In the case of Britain, Moscow was likely to declare that London had gone from a hybrid proxy war with Russia to direct armed aggression if it allows Kyiv to fire Storm Shadow missiles at Russia, former Kremlin adviser Sergei Markov said on social media platform Telegram on Friday. Russia was likely to close the British embassy in Moscow and its own in London, strike British drones and warplanes close to Russia, for example over the Black Sea, and possibly fire missiles at F-16 warplanes that carry the Storm Shadows at their bases in Romania and Poland, Markov predicted.” Russia making very specific threats to retaliate if the UK gives Kyiv long range missiles. https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/putins-options-ukraine-missiles-response-includes-nuclear-test-experts-say-2024-09-13/

Wait, what does NATO have to do with this? Is Ukraine a member of NATO? No. Is Russia protecting the rights of its citizens in Ukraine? Yes. What is NATO doing on the territory of a non-member country? Article 5 does not apply here because read above. What/whose interests does NATO protect/promote in Ukraine? If they want to protect something, why is Ukraine not admitted to NATO?
