Thoughts on Canton since its been discussed on the pod

I'm an investor and I run a validator node. Mainly invested because Don Wilson is behind it. The business case is at least ... legible ... but I also have some doubts

The tech is the most overengineered thing I have ever seen. The infra cost is high and the tech stack is convoluted. Documentation for these things is always poor for all projects but there were a ton of undocumented fixes that required their devs to help 

My most cracked dev who never stumbled on any technical problems got burned out getting this to work and had to take a few days off once it was running. The company Digital Asset tried to bill us for customer support because our dev was asking questions about how to build on their open source software

I'm not convinced the cost and complexity has a tradeoff of actual value, I just think they built something crazy. I also question the Canton token value accrual. But if they can onboard institutions there'll be something valuable there
