A younger me ALWAYS finished my mileage on an even number I’ve matured since then and go back and forth between periodizing intensity minutes and miles and even kilometers. It all works, there’s no one size fits all- do what best suits you! 📊 Just scored 7 points for fitness data on @griv!

6.46m/mile are you kidding me? I'm trying to get down from 8m/mile on my 10k. I want to do the NY marathon.

Haha I’ve been running seriously on and off for roughly 8 years (wow, where does the time go?) That’s a great goal! The NY racing atmosphere is electric ⚡️ The biggest thing that helped me make leaps was staying consistent and getting into plenty of races incrementally on the way to a goal race.

Shorter race distances for sure. 5ks and 10ks will bring up your leg speed. Then when you get the volume high enough to handle 26.2, marathon pace will feel very controlled compared to what you were throwing down weeks/ months prior
