It's the lack of localization that drive these things. It's about being able to understand text in different languages, linguistic nuances that get lost often in translation and build in local historical context. It's a step away from the globalization of minds face it, most people don't use AI to build cool stuff but to answer basic queries (instead of google), entertain their kids (I'm guilty of it) and fact check stuff (without fact-checking the LLM) https://restofworld.org/2025/chatgpt-latin-america-alternative-latamgpt

A live example here 🙋🏽‍♀️ I use chatgpt like I would Google not to "build cool stuff". Over here in a developing country, it's better that the root problems are solved first before advanced problems.

don't beat yourself up too much. It took an article by @naomiii (no idea which one) to make me think not every question needs to be answered by perplexity, some times google will also do. What's one thing you'd like to change where you think you could also make a difference (no matter how big)?

Yess I've found that Google is best for when I want the search to include real life experiences. Do you mean in the place I live?

> do you mean in the place I live? Yes For example: in all but one place I have been appalled by the education system, how stuff is taught etc. if money wouldn’t be an issue I’d create a school for kids who can’t afford private school and thus are left with crappy choices, old school buildings and burned out teachers

You said it. Education is the one thing I would change. Remember, I said I would embrace my writing identity? I looked at the essays of my age mates from the US and UK education system, and looked at my essays, and noticed that mine lacked the secret sauce—critical thinking. That is why I'm currently taking English lessons on BBC Bitesize website. It is clear right now that because of the poor and archaic education system, a lot of Nigerians have poor comprehension and communication skills. Politicians also take advantage of the uneducated masses by manipulating them so they can keep occupying political postions. It is really sad that even at that, the greedy and wicked politicians keep on scheming to fill their pockets. 😪
