Countdown to the Switch 2's launch - 9 days

I'm going to highlight one thing I am excited for each day as we countdown to the console's release early next month.

I am not normally someone that puts a high level of importance on graphics, but it is nice that the Switch 2 will be packing a lot more power in the visual realm. The new console enables up to 4K gaming in TV mode and up to 120 fps at 1080p in handheld mode. The Switch 2 also supports high dynamic range and AI upscaling to bring sharper graphics and smoother gameplay.

AI-driven features like Deep Learning Super Sampling will boost resolution for sharper details without sacrificing image quality. AI-powered face tracking and background removal in video chat will enhance social gaming and streaming.

The system also supports Variable refresh rate via NVIDIA G-SYNC in handheld mode. Developers have access to improved game engines, better physics and optimized APIs for faster, more efficient game creation.

I'm going to highlight one thing I am excited for each day as we countdown to the console's release early next month.

The Switch 2 will not use the same type of SD cards for storage as the original Switch did. Instead it will use SD Express (for physical games) and MicroSD Express cards (for expanding the system storage).

This is both good and bad. The system's 256gb of built in storage will likely get used up quickly as games this generation are much larger than previously. SD Express will allow for much faster read and write times than regular SD. The downside here is that there are not many of these on the market yet and they are rather expensive currently. Millions of Switch 2s in the wild will mean that more are released and this will bring prices down in the next couple years. This will also mean that 3rd party game devs will try to avoid using them for physical games for now.
