As I suspected, the government's case against Garcia is very thin. The witnesses are not trustworthy because their incentives align with the government's.

"Lawyers for Abrego García tried to cast doubt Friday on the credibility of Hernandez-Reyes and other government witnesses.

“He is a two-time felon who has been deported five times,” defense lawyer Richard Tennent said during his cross-examination of Joseph, apparently referring to Hernandez-Reyes, though he did not name him.

“Sorry,” the judge interjected, “How many times?”

“Five times your honor,” Tennent said."
