This could just as easily have been a post in /education, but you'll see why I am casting it here at the end of the next paragraph I'm sure a lot of you could tell this was happening, but people are getting dumber. The problem is particularly bad amongst Americans. In the USA almost 30% of adults struggle with basic reading and 35% struggle with basic math. The number of young adults (18 years of age) who are having trouble simply thinking or learning new things have taken off over the last 14 years after staying stable for decades. This is a problem for society in general because the people that score the lower on these tests are also more suspicious of other people and are more alienated from politics.
