I’d love to see the overlap of that 48% with what their news consumption habits are. Between echo chambers and people not seeking real reporting (or scrutinizing what they DO consume!) I’d say apathy toward being informed is as much to blame as floundering media companies. The sad truth is half the country doesn’t give a fuck about any of it til its taking their paycheck, services, etc.

I agree overall, but so many people in the 48% cannot even afford to care (acute in the US, and getting acute in many countries with formerly more social practices). Unfortunately many of the 48% must run all day for shillings, still care for their family and collapse naked on their bed, exhausted. Do they have energy or mental to review the news? I bet like most of us here, their physiology needs slack time on TikTok or Netflix, then zero on The News, let alone trying to get perspective across media :'( It's up-hill hard to give a fuck, when it's hard to get a paycheck or service in the first place. --- Very interested in crossing with news consumption habits!
