many thoughts. There’s some good stuff in there, but also some misleading ones
- wall toilets look great and are easy to clean, but they are more expensive to buy, install, and maintain
- digging out for the shower and then adding a curb seems like a pointless expense. That’s not deep enough for a real bath and only works for ground levels units. You could do this and avoid the curb entirely which looks very clean and works for people in wheelchairs
- avoiding plumbing/electrical in the floor could be a good idea if you’re in an apartment, but if you own the floor below you there’s no advantage. That said, sanitary lines have to be the floor under fixtures (gravity).
- I would never put a dropped ceiling in a bathroom, think about the moisture and mold growth above it.
- similar to the toilet, any plumbing that goes in the wall rather than a floor is going to be more expensive to buy, install, maintain. If you’re on the ground floor with a concrete slab, that might be an exception. 1 reply
