There seems to be a resurgence of philosophy in science recently. Some of the most interesting scientists in this area seem to have a background in philosophy. 

Seems like it's because in the area of AI we are really exploring how we come to know things, what knowledge is and how it impacts all of science.  The objective view is ebbing as we recognize that everything objective starts in the subjective, and

She's really good at making sure we are all using the right definitions.

"What are you?" is a primary question when answering "do YOU have free will?"

From the univers's perspective, there may be no separate "you" and no free will for the thing that doesn't exist separately.

From your perspective, however, there is a you, and that definition of you would also contain decisions free will.
