someone educate me on why dns records take 48 hours to get up to schpeed?

DNS is basically a big decentralized distributed cache, so it can take a while for the update messages to reach all the servers in the network. In practice it very rarely takes this long, especially if you are updating records with a major provider.

it can happen, though! in 10+ years of doing web stuff I had never seen DNS propagation take longer than a few minutes until we did the Warpcast-to-Farcaster transition and it actually took 4 hours for a few important records to propagate.

i use porkbun for everything and it rarely takes longer than 10 min
