My Thoughts on the Neynar Score and Participation 1/3 So, we're already seeing some mini-apps set a 0.5 Neynar Score cutoff. You can access the app, but as soon as you try to actually do anything inside, that score message pops up. I'm honestly not sure if it's the right move to let an algorithm dictate whether you can participate in a mini-app. I've been active on Farcaster for about five months now. I engage with the mini-apps, I give likes fairly regularly, I post a cast, and I reply to others. I’ve never once tried to spam. The simple reality is I just don't always have the time to reply to casts. I also prefer to post nothing at all rather than posting something low-effort just for the sake of it. It's also pretty discouraging when you post something thoughtful in a channel and get zero engagement, not a single like or reply. And this isn't necessarily because the content is poor.

Filtering out spam without excluding good casters is problematic, and combining data doesn't make it better. Besides that Neynar is the easy choice for many builders, but Neynar mistake less engagement for spam. I don't think there's a good solution. Spam and scams are persistent and have more resources than most users. If you want to use all the mini apps, you'll have to keep various social credit systems happy. That's also what I see dubious accounts doing btw... 🎁

I agree it's tough to find the right balance for a decentralized platform. While I don't know everything the system uses, perhaps layering in solutions like Zero-Knowledge Proofs and input mechanics could help. The key is ensuring the system doesn't fail to recognize genuine users acting in good faith, and I'm personally going to do my best to raise my social score.
