Stocks are stored in Clearstream (Deutsche Börse’s depository). Solana smart contracts then mint tokens 1:1 (e.g., 1,000 TSLAx for 1,000 Tesla shares). Backed manages the token contract, letting exchanges list these tokens. Holders can redeem tokens for real stocks through Backed, closing the loop.
