The heartbreaking loss of Liverpool striker Diogo Jota and his brother André is a devastating reminder of how fragile life is. It has also made me reflect on just how deeply we all love this sport and the incredible bond we share with the players who bring it to life. The news sent cold shivers down my spine. It touched my soul and reminded me of the kind of bond we've built with these players over time — watching them week in and week out, loving and cherishing them for putting smiles on our faces through the game we all enjoy, no matter which team we support. This is a terrible loss for the footballing world, and most especially for Diogo's family — his mother, his wife whom he married less than two weeks ago, and his three little children. My heart also goes out to his teammates, friends, and everyone who loved him and was loved by him. May the Lord console and comfort them during this time.
