I keep hearing this theory that the housing crisis will sort itself out as Zoomers and Millennials inherit their parents houses... and I'm just not sure that's going to be generally true. I think it's more likely that in most cases, those houses will be sold to pay for assisted living, end of life services and medical costs.

Here in my country, the younger generations no longer think about owning a home: it's simply something out of reach. And the mentality our parents had of taking 20 years or more to build a house is no longer taken into account. Long-term plans are increasingly in danger of extinction. I suppose, beyond the distances, there are similar problems.

I'm sorry to hear that, Hank! You'd think it would be easy to keep housing costs affordable... people have always needed housing, housing has always required constant maintenance, it's the same skills that have been required for a long time... it's weird that it's collapsing in so many countries at the same time.
