Happy Birthday to my dear friend Katinka, who would have turned 80 today, if not for her losing battle with terminal cancer.

She was one of the most iconic and wise women I’ve ever known, and the inspiration she left in my heart will stay with me for the rest of my life.

An elderly friend of hers, upon seeing how many countries her portraits had been exhibited in, smiled and said: “She always loved to travel, and I am happy to see she is still doing that.”

Video is from this past weekend’s 700th anniversary of Tenochtitlan. Held in the square built over the ancient city's ruins, it featured reconstructed monuments and a light show on the church, a powerful tribute with Mexica traditions reclaiming space atop Spanish foundations
