Advice on post-founder life?

I was catching up with a founder friend last night and he's been having a terrible time finding a new role now that he's sold and moved on from his last startup.

He's mostly been looking for sales roles but when put on the measuring block for roles compared to career enterprise sales folks things don't stack up.

I've seen this too many times in my life - the founder path can rob you of many of the trappings of corporate life.  No path is ever safe, but that skillset from corporate definitely has value.

As many of us know, the founder path has more routes that lead to 0 than anything else.  In some ways we do ourselves a disservice in not having or seeking alternatives.

I turned 50 in January and with most folks in my network aging upwards and outwards, I see more and more of them on the sidelines with extended searches for work going forward.

Curious if folks have given this much consideration and/or what you're doing/planning for the future.
