An iphone has a clear use case, is common to have, status symbol, has fun apps and games and shit. A stock gives no direct change to your life, it's long term. People want short term visable use, not long term abstract benefits. We are impuls driven creatures to a large extent.

People are not good at delayed gratification. A new iPhone gives you instant pleasure, stock returns add up over decades. Same reason junk food is so popular.
