Does this make sense? Seems like a dozen companies could easily copy what they're doing.

Microsoft LITERALLY has VSCode and is copying everything cursor does and still losing tons of market share.

Everyone is trying lol. When a company goes from 0 to 500M ARR many many founders try to capture some of it.

During my time at YC I knew 20+ companies trying to build a better cursor

Has Microsoft tried? It seems like it wouldn’t require much effort for them to build all of Cursor’s UX into vscode.

Many more than a dozen have tried.

They excel at execution, execution is a moat.

Moderate-to-severe symptoms.

They don’t have much control though. They’re currently just bundling stuff built by other companies into a nice UX.

They could, but god damn is Cursor a quality solution. Nothing else I've used comes close.

I stuck with VSCode and copilot at least for now. It’s more comfortable for the level of detail I like to work at. 

I also scratch my head at their valuation.
